We’re excited to share that Gray Matters Alliance (GMA) has formed a partnership with Hydrostasis, Inc. to bring advanced hydration monitoring to the individuals and caregivers we support.
Hydration plays a critical role in overall health, safety, and daily functioning, especially for older adults, individuals with IDD, and those who may not always recognize early signs of dehydration.
Meet Geca: The World’s First Hydration Monitor
Hydrostasis has developed the world’s first hydration monitor, called Geca, designed to alert you to drink water before your body reaches a critical level of dehydration.
When the body doesn’t send normal thirst signals, it can lead to serious health issues. Proper hydration supports better sleep, improved memory and learning, more stable moods, and more effective medication absorption.
Who Benefits Most from Hydration Monitoring?
Hydration monitoring can be especially helpful for:
Individuals with kidney issues, such as frequent kidney stones
Older adults whose natural thirst signals have diminished
People who dehydrate easily due to heat, sweating, or medical conditions
Individuals who experience dizziness or fatigue
Anyone who forgets to drink water or assumes they’re hydrated when they’re not
What Sets the Hydrostasis Device Apart?
The Geca™ Watch uses advanced light sensors to detect hydration levels in the skin, penetrating deeper than other devices currently on the market.
This technology provides real-time alerts and ongoing monitoring that adjust for age, activity level, weight, medications, and changes in overall health.
The device is simple and intuitive to use, featuring color-coded indicators:
Blue: Well hydrated
Yellow: Slightly dehydrated
Red: Severely dehydrated
Users also receive notifications when hydration levels begin to drop, allowing them to take action before symptoms worsen.

Integrated Monitoring with the GMA MyCompass System
Hydrostasis can function as a standalone device, but it is also integrated into the GMA MyCompass System.
This allows caregivers and individuals to monitor hydration alongside other health and safety metrics from a single, easy-to-use dashboard.
Building a More Connected and Supportive Future
Gray Matters Alliance is proud to partner with Hydrostasis as we continue building a more connected, supportive, and empowered future.
This collaboration expands our ability to support preventive care, real-time awareness, and proactive health monitoring—while empowering independence and reducing caregiver burden.
